Artist Trivia
- Cornwell studied biochemistry and formed Johnny Sox while in Sweden for further research. He has recalled giving up that academic path to pursue music.
- Before his group became The Stranglers, Johnny Sox played short songs influenced by rockabilly rather than only the punk rock later associated with him.
- “Golden Brown” is officially credited to all four Stranglers members. Dave Greenfield devised its central keyboard motif, while Cornwell wrote the lyrics.
- He recorded “Nosferatu” between Stranglers commitments with Robert Williams, a drummer associated with Captain Beefheart. Musicians connected to Devo and Frank Zappa also took part.
